| Membership in the Northwest Territories Association of Architects in required for engaging in the practice of architecture in the NWT. The Architects Act 2001 regulates professional practice and professional conduct, and empowers architects to be self-regulating in the NWT, as is the case in all other Canadian provincial jurisdictions.

| The purpose of the CERB is to provide the Intern with a tool to record the work experience, and to enable the provincial associations to verify and to assess the nature and breadth of the Intern’s experience. The Intern is responsible for maintaining a continuous record of experience in the CERB. This record has several functions. For the Intern, it identifies areas where experience is being acquired and areas where deficiencies exist; for the Employer, it is an assessment and personnel management tool; and for the provincial association, it is verified evidence of compliance with the experience requirements. |

| Examination for Architects in Canada (ExAC) |

| The Examination for Architects in Canada (ExAC) which, to date, all of the Canadian Licensing Authorities have adopted, with the exception of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia agreed to develop a new Canadian licensing/registration examination, over which they would have complete control, including control of its development, updates and administration.
